Cornwall’s small Muslim community is hosting a “solidarity event” on Sunday to honour those killed in last week’s New Zealand terrorist attack.
Fifty people were killed when a gunman attacked two mosques in Christchurch.
Now Cornwall’s Islamic community – which accounts for only 0.16% of Cornwall’s population – is holding an event at its Carnon Downs headquarters, near Truro, at 1pm on Sunday.
Cornwall is thought to be the only county in England which does not have a mosque – and the Cornwall Islamic Community Centre is the closest alternative.
The invitation poster is to “all communities. Join us to send strong message to those who try to divide us.”
