Motorists are facing another weekend of delays on Cornwall’s main road when the A30 closes again for major earthworks.
National Highways will close the road between Boxheater and the new Chiverton interchange from 8pm on Friday 14th July until 6am on Monday 17th July.
Diversions will be in place as construction crews work on a series of “tie-ins” to the new junction.
There will also be overnight closures on the A30 during the following week.
Meanwhile National Highways has tried to assure motorists it is aware of the confusion caused by the new Chiverton interchange.
“This is a temporary layout and it’s the first stage in delivering a new grade separated junction with a flyover to be constructed later this year, which will separate A30 traffic from local traffic,” said National Highways.
“While there has been some improvement as drivers have got used to the new, temporary layout, we are aware that there remains more congestion than usual and are looking at easing traffic flows, particularly those in the westbound direction.
“We have added extra signage, and installed two sets of traffic signals at the A30 westbound entry to the interchange. We are also managing the A390 filter lane so that the lights operate as effectively as possible.
