A 70-year-old former child protection officer has been jailed for 14 months after admitting possession of hundreds of indecent images of children.
Former policeman Robert Branney, of St Austell, also admitted that between 30th March and 21st June 2016 he made an indecent photograph of a child. He appeared at Truro Crown Court for sentence today.
Mr Branney, a former president of the St Austell Lions Club, retired from the police 15 years ago after serving 28 years. During part of his career he was responsible for child protection.
