Worried that it costs too much to cross the Tamar? Just sign a Tory petition, that should fix it

Two Tory MPs have launched a petition calling for a freeze on Tamar Bridge and Torpoint ferry tolls.

South East Cornwall MP Sheryll Murray and Plymouth Moor View MP Johnny Mercer have said the proposed increase is “totally unacceptable.”

The petition calls on the government to reject requests from Cornwall and Plymouth councils for an increase from £2.60 to £3 per crossing.

The cash is the only source of revenue for bridge and ferry maintenance.

Funding for the Tamar Crossings is particularly controversial during an election year.

Mrs Murray has been the MP since 2010.  Mr Mercer has been the MP since 2015.
