Pydar redevelopment plans to be re-submitted on 3rd May

Dear Editor,

Re: Pydar Street Regeneration – Revised planning application by Cornwall Council

On or around the 5th April Cornwall Council issued a press release announcing they had re-consulted “everyone “ on the planning application which is to be re-submitted following the refusal by the Strategic Planning Committee. I voiced my concerns at the Committee about the massing, height and overdevelopment of the site …but the subsequent “everyone” consultation seems to have left most of us out, including Truro City Council!

It was announced on the 23rd April that pre-application survey forms, presumably sponsored by Cornwall Council, had to be submitted by close of business that day.

As Truro City Councillors we have now received a notice to attend an “informal meeting” to be held on the 29th April – no minutes are to be taken and no papers will be available – when officers from Cornwall Council/Treveth (arm’s length company of Cornwall Council) are to meet with us presumably about the revised plans, which are apparently to be re-submitted on the 3rd

May. However, Truro City Council have not yet had sight of the revised plans!

This is our City – it belongs to the people of Truro and yet it became clear the comments/suggestions we made in the first instance were ignored and so now if we want a development of which we can be proud and which will sit comfortably within the City, we need to watch out for the revised planning application and make our views known without delay.

Yours sincerely,

Armorel Carlyon (Cllr. Mrs.)

  1. This latest information exposes yet again the Kremlin type of culture that the present CEO of Cornwall Council has allowed to continue during her employment, where is democracy, enough is enough, time for a change.
