Police have sealed off Jubilee Park, Wadebridge, after a young woman was assaulted late last night.
Officers taped off the entrance to the park, on the southern side of the River Camel, as forensic teams combed the area looking for clues. A man aged 21 is in custody.
The victim, understood to be in her late teens, is not thought to be seriously hurt.
Local residents, alarmed by the police activity, at first thought a body had been found but police later confirmed the nature of the incident. They are not looking for anybody else in connection with the assault.
