Newquay airport's unusually long runway was put to use this afternoon when the supersonic Bloohound car made its first road test.
Around 3,000 people watched as the car reached speeds of up to 200mph. The team behind the vehicle hope it will pass 1,000 mph when it races across salt flats in South Africa next year, in a bid to set a new world land speed record.
This afternoon's outing took just eight seconds.
