Falmouth University – which began life as the Falmouth School of Art more than 100 years ago – is to scrap its foundation arts course.
The Falmouth Foundation Diploma, which prepares youngsters to study the arts at degree level, is suspended from next year. A statement on the university’s website (right) says the course is not currently taking applications.
The downgrading of arts teaching at Falmouth has outraged young people – who have resorted to the traditional online petition calling for the decision to be reversed.
