There has been a further delay to plans to re-open the Edward Hain community hospital at St Ives, which was closed in February due to concern about fire safety.
Work on the 12-bed unit had been scheduled to start earlier this month. But now health officials have decided that even with remedial works, some patients – particularly those with mobility problems - would not be able to escape the building in the event of a fire.
