Covid-19 has killed a patient at the Royal Cornwall Hospital – the first for 18 days and only the third in more than three months. The patient died late last week. The death brings to 68 the total number of Covid-19 fatalities at RCHT and the total overall for Cornwall to 212.
Cornwall recorded another 20 positive cases yesterday (Saturday), as RCHT said it was aware that Covid-19 pressures were increasing, with four patients admitted during the previous week.
At the peak of the first wave, in April, RCHT needed 40 beds for Covid-19 patients and the Cornwall Partnership Foundation Trust provided another 54. No Covid patients were admitted to a CPFT hospital last week.
Yesterday’s cluster map for Cornwall shows the infection is strengthening its grip, with The Lizard now recording 11 cases.
