The warnings were there, the fishermen ignored the warnings. Even if they were able to catch more fish, where would they have sold the fish to?
You can only betray when you have some loyalty to break. The cheerleaders and bankrollers of the Brexit campaign never owed any loyalty to our fishing communities. Consequently, they’ve certainly harmed them, but from the pro-Brexit viewpoint this is no betrayal – just business as usual.
