Cornwall Reports is seeking a business manager to join the company. This is a new post, initially for a £3,000 contract, to help devise and implement the Cornwall Reports business plan.
The initial £3,000 contract will be for between one and three months, subject to the agreement of priorities. The contract is to help implement a long-term sales strategy which, if successful, will lead to the creation of a permanent position.
The premise behind this opportunity is that a successful local news website needs both a good editor and a good circulation manager. The job is all about finding new readers and selling subscriptions, as well as developing supplementary revenue streams which maintain journalism at the heart of the venture.
Cornwall Reports is a not-for-profit company and seeks eventually to hire more journalists, to be funded from the increased sales.
The business manager contract might suit a freelance digital marketing expert - and/or an existing reader who simply shares Cornwall Reports aims and values and who has the enthusiasm and drive to make this local news website, launched in October 2016, into an even more powerful voice in the media landscape.
The successful applicant will need lots of ideas about digital marketing strategies and technologies. A good knowledge of WordPress, and social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and Linkedin, would be an advantage.
Initially, just send a brief email (not more than 400 words) expressing your interest to theboss@cornwallreports.co.uk before 12th June 2020.
Interviews will be in early July. The business manager should be in post by the end of August 2020.
