Months of fuel shortages for motorists in the Wadebridge area come to an end today with the re-opening of a new BP garage – and a new Marks & Spencer food store – at the western end of town.
The 24-hour filling station, next to Tregonings garage at the start of the A39 Wadebridge by-pass, has been a four-month re-construction project. Lorries arrived early this morning to deliver fresh produce for the new food store, which opened at 9am after an official “ribbon-snipping” ceremony performed by Nick Pickles of Polzeath.
The refurbishment of the filling station coincided with sporadic fuel shortages at the nearest alternative, at St Kew Highway, leaving A39 motorists seeking long diversions in their quest for petrol or diesel.
