Police are investigating the deaths of two men whose bodies were found in a St Austell flat yesterday (Wednesday.)
A three-storey building on Tregonissey Road was the focus of intense police activity yesterday afternoon and early evening. It is understood the building is owned by Ocean Housing.
A police statement released this morning said: "Police have launched an investigation following the discovery of the bodies of two men at a property in St Austell.
"Officers attended an address on Tregonissey Road in St Austell just after 4.30pm yesterday [Wednesday 27 December].
"On arrival officers found the bodies of the two men deceased inside the house. The cause of death is currently being treated as unexplained. One man, a 31-year-old from St Austell, has been identified and his next of kin have been informed.
"The second man, thought to be in his 20s, has yet to be formally identified and his next of kin yet to be informed.
"At this time, police are conducting thorough inquiries and an examination of the scene is underway to establish the causes of death.
"A scene guard remains at the property while a forensic examination and searches are conducted."
DI Marie Ward said: “This investigation is at a very early stage and enquiries continue to establish the circumstances around the deaths.”

Neighbours reported seeing several police cars, vans and ambulances around a block of flats near Poltair School from around 4pm onwards.
